The individual who threatened the founder and employees of StemExpress in July 2015 has been sentenced to a year in federal prison. Scott Anthony Orton pleaded guilty in April to federal charges of transmitting interstate threats.
“We want to thank the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office, and our local law enforcement, for their successful efforts at bringing Mr. Orton to justice,” said StemExpress CEO Cate Dyer. “His violent threats took a toll on everyone here at StemExpress, but we never paused in our efforts to help researchers better understand and stop serious diseases and medical conditions. One of the great benefits of living in America is a rational legal system that protects its citizens.”
