Responding to COVID-19

StemExpress provides full-service COVID-19 testing for individuals, families, public health agencies, and businesses. We have integrated gold standard PCR testing into our existing stem cell laboratories, in an effort to protect the health, safety, and economic vitality of our communities. In addition, we have launched a portfolio of biospecimen products to aid in COVID-19 research.

Types of Testing Available

Molecular Testing (RT-PCR)

Samples will be collected from participants and sent to our CLIA laboratory for RT-PCR testing using Thermo Fisher’s Applied Biosystems TaqPath™ Assay technology. This highly sensitive diagnostic test provides fast and reliable results. Through this testing, positive results are indicative of a current SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Antibody Testing

Antibody Testing is a serological test for the qualitative detection of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 in the blood. A blood draw is required to collect a sample for an antibody test. The presence of the antibodies can identify participants that may have been infected at a previous point in time.

What qualifications does StemExpress have to provide testing?

StemExpress is a leading life science and biotechnology company serving customers in the area of primary cell collection and laboratory services. We have 7 certified brick and mortar centers across the United States that are involved in biological sample collection and testing daily. Each center is staffed with credentialed personnel meeting state requirements to collect samples and perform testing.

Who will be administering the tests?

StemExpress staff with qualifications and certifications at or above state level requirements will be administering the collection of samples and the test. Alternatively, our clients can arrange for the samples to be collected by a state certified professional and ship the samples to our laboratory for testing.

How does StemExpress protect the privacy of the individuals we are collecting samples from?

StemExpress is HIPAA compliant within all our systems and our staff is trained to follow these guidelines. We have an integrated secure web-based portal meeting HIPAA compliance that allows individuals to pre- register. At this time a Participant ID will be generated. The Participant ID is what is used through the sample processing. Results are returned through our portal to the tested individual.

Who can I contact if I didn’t receive my results?

Please call 530-236-6040 if it has been more than 72 hours since your test (24 hours for STAT testing), and you did not receive your results by email.

Are the tests StemExpress uses for diagnostics approved by the FDA?

All our molecular tests used by StemExpress will be an approved Emergency Use Authorized test or FDA approved test for COVID-19 infection.

How will people be safe during the testing?

StemExpress staff will be wearing full personal protective equipment. We will require a safe space between participants. We are able use a drive through testing method or use a dedicated area in your facility. We will use all disposable items as required, we will remove any used materials and decontaminate all used surfaces after testing.
