Product Description

Human T cells are lymphocytes that are generally characterized by the expression of CD3 on the cell surface. These cells originate in the bone marrow, migrate to the thymus to undergo maturation, and are one of the key cell types involved in cell-mediated immunity. T cells are involved in destroying invading organisms and also aid in the activation of B cells through the thymus-dependent response. There are several different subsets of T cells, including helper T cells (naïve and memory), cytotoxic T cells (naïve and memory), regulatory T cells (Tregs) and natural killer T (NKT) cells. Removal of these T cells allows for enrichment of stem cells and effector cells, such as NK cells.

Human mobilized peripheral blood CD3+ T cells are depleted from the mononuclear cell fraction by means of positive selection. Cells expressing CD3, which makes up approximately 75% of the total population, are depleted from the mononuclear cell population using CD3 immunomagnetic beads. CD3 depleted T cells are characterized by flow cytometry before cryopreservation to ensure a highly pure and viable cell population.

Cells were obtained using Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved consent forms and protocols. All reagents and devices used in the collection and separation process are certified clinical grade. This item is for research use only.
