Who can give blood or bone marrow?
We screen all donors for medical history and infectious disease before any collections can take place, and donors suffering from hepatitis or HIV are typically excluded.
However - researchers often request blood or bone marrow from subjects with specific medical conditions so don’t assume you can’t donate!
What kind of demographic information is attached to specimens?
StemExpress is serious about donor confidentiality, and we strictly observe HIPAA regulations. Personal identifying information is removed from all samples and replaced with a nonspecific numeric identifier.
If a study requires demographic information, we can provide researchers general identifiers like age, gender and a minimal health history.
